I've recently been diagnosed by my psychiatrist as "having" Inattentive ADHD, and you exhibit extremely similar behavioural patterns to me... I would highly recommend consulting a professional about this. I would live most of my life on what feels like autopilot in my head most of the time while I was younger. (I am 28 now)

Patience is what a lot of us struggle with... And self belief.
Well done for taking the first step in regard to taking care of your mental health.
PS. (I do not view ADHD as an illness, our brains just process information differently. Just as neurotypicals process information differently to us. There are many more Neurotypicals so they make up more of the statistics. Just because we are different doesn't mean it's a bad thing. 😊 )
